Hina Khan
Artist Statement
The fear of unknown is spreading globally due to the pandemic. People are forced to live with minimum liberties, facing the fear of loneliness, hunger, illness and death. We plan our happiness whereas the sorrows are unplanned. COVID 19 has restricted us from planning our future, our happiness.
I have worked on the impact of COVID 19 in our community, changes in our daily routines, fear of being alone, fear of death away from your loved ones and fear of getting sickness from others. As an artist it is very disturbing for me and I have to absorb myself with work to overcome this fear. I have the perception that everyone is facing the same situation.
My installation represents the current global situation and is a firm reaction against forced lockdown. As per my perception, the pandemic has changed the global situation. Trauma and uncertainty mould our ideas to rethink and reshape.
This installation is depicting how Corona has impacted on daily life while spreading across the whole planet earth. I invite other artists from different parts of world to become involved as the pandemic affects all of us regardless of age, gender, race, ability etc.
